The original Interviews and Conversations (1982) indexes some 3,600 interviews with more than 1,600 authors. The second series of interviews (1986), covering the same period, 1900-1980, indexes almost 6,000 interviews with more than 1,100 authors. The third series indexes more than 5,600 interviews with nearly 2,500 authors, covering the period 1981-1985; it also provides more addenda from 1900-1980, as promised in the preface to Series II.
